Tarboro History Day

History Day in Tarboro, sponsored by the Edgecombe County Cultural Arts Council, will take place on the grounds of the Blount-Bridgers House, 130 Bridgers St. on Saturday, September 25, showcasing the House, the Pender Museum and the Philips Dependency.
A special exhibit in the Hobson Pittman Gallery at the Blount-Bridgers House will feature the Eastern Carolina Railway Collection of Bob Newton from Farmville. "Painting the Town", an exhibit featuring the works of members of the Tarboro Artist Guild, will also be on display in the gallery.
The day's activities will include Revolutionary War reenactors, period crafters and tours of The Periauger, a replica of a mid-1800's work boat. A lecture and book-signing will feature David Norris, author of Potter's Raid. Evening activities will focus on the always entertaining historic ghost walk at 6:30 p.m. with historian Monika Fleming in charge. The Ghost Walk tours will run on the half hour and will center around the Town Common. Tickets are $5.
The arts council will sell box lunches for $6. Lunch proceeds will go toward covering event expenses. For more information, call 252-823-4159.
