Pick-Up Schedule and Routes

Town of Tarboro Trash Collection

 

 

Household waste is collected twice weekly on Mondays and Thursdays or Tuesdays and Fridays on your assigned collection days.  Household waste must be placed in the brown roll-out container and at the curb by 7:00 a.m. on your collection day.   Household waste should not be mixed with yard waste.

 

Yard waste will be collected on Wednesday of each week.  Yard waste should be placed in the green roll-out container and at curbside by 7:00 a.m. each Wednesday morning.  Yard waste consists of anything that grows (grass, leaves, pine straw, limbs, etc.).  Yard waste should never be mixed with household waste (paper, plastic, cardboard or anything else that does not grow).  Yard waste should also be free from broken glass or other sharp objects.  Piles of yard waste too big to be picked up by the collectors on Wednesday will be picked up on the day they are scheduled to be in your area Monday, Tuesday, Thursday or Friday. 

 

Recyclables should be placed in the red container and at the curb by 7:00 a.m.  Recyclables will be collected once a week on Thursdays or Fridays on the same day household waste is collected.  Items accepted for recycling are Category 1 and 2 plastic containers; brown, green and clear glass; corrugated cardboard; aluminum cans and newspapers. Motor oil should be put in gallon jugs with screw on tops.

 

White goods:  refrigerators, stoves, washers, dryers, water heaters, air conditioners, freezers, etc. are collected on Wednesdays.  Along with white goods we will pick up anything metal:  lawn mowers, grills, bicycles, heaters, swing sets, fire extinguishers, etc.

 

Construction materials (work done by resident not contractor) will be picked up on Monday, Tuesday, Thursday or Friday on the day scheduled for your area. 

 

Mattresses and box springs are picked up with household trash on Monday and Thursday or Tuesday and Friday.

 

T.V.’s, microwaves and small pieces of furniture should be picked up with household trash on Monday and Thursday or Tuesday and Friday.  Large pieces of furniture will be picked up on Monday, Tuesday, Thursday or Friday on the day scheduled for your area.

 

Paint:  Must be dried completely with sand before it will be picked up.

 

The Town does not pick up tires, car parts, gas, fuel or any type of canister that contained any fuel.
