Tarboro operates using a council-manager form of government. The mayor serves four years in office, while council members are elected from the town's eight wards for four-year staggered terms. A town manager then administers the town's operations under the mayor and town council's direction. Seven department heads work under the town manager to carry out differing responsibilities of Tarboro's government.
The Town Council meets on the 2nd Monday of each month at 7:00pm. These meetings are held in the Town Council Chamber on the second floor of Town Hall (500 Main Street). We also have records of our past Council Agendas & Minutes.
